Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) researched various measures for reducing emissions about 10 years ago. http://www.rmi.org/rmi/Library/C02-12_CoolCitizensHouseholdSolutions (PDF)
We have revised the information from this chart at http://www.climateactionnow.ca/tips
The report needs to be revised because the impact of climate change has worsened and we have lost a lot of time in which we could have implemented their recommended actions.
We have revised one RMI chart to reflect the strategies that could be adopted starting this year in order to reach net zero emissions by 2022. However, we need to stabilize our emissions by 2015 so this strategy will need to be compressed. The starting average household emissions used in this chart are 27,000 lbs (12,258 Kg) CO2.
