Sharing based on current emissions

The global carbon budget could be shared on other principles such as a country's share of global emissions (also referred to as Inertia).

Canada's share of global emissions is approximately 1.7%. The chart represents these limits and the cumulative emissions if Canada were to attempt to stay within those limits compared to the cumulative emissions if Canada follows the Pan-Canadian targets of 30% of the 2005 levels (747 MtCO2e) by 2030 and 80% by 2050.
